The Batten School & VIMS campus will be closed on Monday, March 15 due to the National Weather Service prediction for severe weather including periods of rain, damaging winds and the potential for tornadoes.

Orientation

  • W&M Tribe Card ID:  Upload your photo for your ID card by August 1. The W&M Tribe Card is your ID card for both W&M and VIMS.
  • W&M Graduate International New Student Orientation: New international students have an additional mandatory orientation in mid-August sponsored by the Reves Center for International Studies.
  • Batten School & VIMS New Student Orientation: All incoming students will participate in two mandatory orientations. The first orientation takes place on the Batten School & VIMS Gloucester Point, VA campus August 25-26, 2025. The second is an overnight field orientation at the Batten School & VIMS Eastern Shore Laboratory campus in Wachapreague, VA September 12-14, 2025. We will also provide an optional excursion to familiarize students with the W&M Williamsburg, VA campus in early September.
  • Student Check-In Form: New students are required to complete a Batten School & VIMS "Check-In" to fulfill all necessary steps for getting started at the Gloucester Point campus. Review and follow the instructions listed in the Steps for Student Check-in once you have arrived at the Batten School & VIMS campus and received your VIMS email account.
